Originally built in the 1940s, this 10-bedroom villa in St. James Parish was reimagined by designer Oliver Messel in the 1960s, then lovingly renovated a few years ago.
One of the most desirable private estates on Barbados, the villa displays Messel’s romantic style throughout in the coral-stone and marble floors, arches, columns, and carved capitals.
The villa has a total of 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms spread across six buildings, all of which are connected by terraces and pathways. The main house is the focal point, where you find the formal living and dining rooms, which are wide open to the gardens and ocean views.
Comfortably hosting 20 guests, the 10 bedrooms all have ensuite bathrooms. The on-site home theater contains reclining seating for 12, and satellite TV. Exercise buffs will enjoy the fitness room, and the infinity pool is suitable for length-swimming. Of course, the pristine, turquoise ocean is also only steps away.
